Matthew Long, Jr. is a dynamic preacher, teacher, and servant leader whose work lives at the intersection of revival, leadership, education, history, and future focused strategy.
As Senior Pastor of Rock Hill Baptist Church II in Greenville, South Carolina, he carries the rare responsibility of pastoring seven generations in one congregation, from babies to elders. His ministry joins time tested faith with forward moving strategy, making the Word of God real, relevant, and relatable.
His work reaches beyond the pulpit through leadership and education strategy, team development, program design, organizational communication, broadcast media, community service, and denominational leadership. He helps leaders clarify vision, strengthen people, and build programs that create lasting impact.
Rooted in a rich spiritual legacy as the grandson of the late Dr. Roy C. Jeffcoat, Long was licensed at 19 after helping plant two churches alongside his grandfather and was ordained at 26 under Bishop Randy Borders through Harvest Church Ministries International.
Today, he serves HCMI as South Carolina State Director and Overseer and Director of Communications. He is also the elected Historian of the Progressive National Baptist Convention and serves the convention regionally as General Secretary of the Southern Region.
His community leadership has included service with the Urban League of the Upstate, the NAACP Greenville Branch, the Girl Scouts of South Carolina Mountains to Midlands, and the Get Schooled Advisory Board. Greenville Business Magazine named him to its 2025 Best and Brightest 35 and Under class.
His life mantra comes from Matthew 23:11: Empowered to Serve. Wherever he is assigned, he brings a prophetic voice, apostolic authority, and a shepherd’s heart to encourage, challenge, and elevate people.
